The infrastructure of our university is huge, with equipped laboratories with highly qualified, dedicated and committed faculty. We remain committed to grow and succeed in our mission to educate students, create knowledge, and provide service to our community. The University achieved many laurels of excellence in its short time of establishment and is striving hard to accomplish many more. For us, excellence is a journey and not a destination. Dr. R. Baskaran, currently serving as the Vice Chancellor of Jeppiaar University, boasts an extensive career spanning over three decades, with over 16 years dedicated to both professorial and administrative roles. Before his current position, he held the esteemed position of Dean of Research at an Anna University-affiliated engineering college in Chennai.

His academic journey commenced with a B.E. degree from S.I.T, Tumkur, followed by the pursuit of higher education culminating in an M.S. (by Research) and Ph.D. from Alagappa Chettiaar College of Technology (A.C.Tech), Anna University, Chennai, Tamilnadu. Notably, he holds an additional undergraduate degree in the science stream, diversifying his educational background.

Dr. Baskaran’s scholarly contributions are commendable, with over 100 papers published in esteemed peer-reviewed journals and proceedings, indexed in Scopus and Web of Science. His work has garnered over 500 citations and a H index exceeding 12. Furthermore, he holds four Indian patents in published status and one granted a German patent. Additionally, he has authored five book chapters and books.

As a mentor, Dr. Baskaran has supervised four doctoral candidates across various universities, including Anna University. His expertise is sought after as a reviewer for numerous Environmental and Chemical Engineering Journals. His accolades include the Best Paper Award and the prestigious Gouri Dutta award in CHEMCON 2007, Calcutta. JET has recognized him with the Best Teacher award four times and received various accolades from international publishing houses such as IIFS.

Dr. Baskaran’s influence extends beyond academia, as evidenced by his role as a resource person for programs conducted by Government Engineering colleges and various ATAL FDPs. He presented a lecture at the University of Technology and Applied Sciences, Salalah, OMAN, titled “Lucrative and Evergreen Engineering” on 2nd Feb 2021.

His professional engagements also encompass project completion sponsored by the Department of Science and Technology (DST) and consultancy services. Dr. Baskaran has organized approximately 10 workshops/FDPs/STTPs sponsored by CSIR, AICTE, and Anna University.

Membership in esteemed organizations such as the Institution of Engineers (IEngg), the Indian Society of Technical Education (ISTE), the Asia Pacific Chemical Biological and Environmental Engineering Society (APCBEES) Hong Kong, and the International Association of Engineers (IAEng) underscores his commitment to professional growth.

Dr. Baskaran’s administrative prowess is evident through his tenure as a Board of Studies member of Anna University from 2013-2022 and his involvement in various committees. He has overseen multiple cycles of NAAC, NIRF, and NBA assessments and played a crucial role in fostering international collaborations through MOUs with universities worldwide. His global exposure includes visits to Malaysia, Singapore, Australia, the United Kingdom, Germany, Netherlands, Switzerland, France, and Belgium, enriching his understanding of international higher education standards.

Committed to upholding the university’s excellence, Dr. Baskaran prioritizes enhancing university rankings, ensuring quality placements, and demonstrating unwavering dedication to academic advancement.
